This is a very good filter to customise to your own needs. This filter has chambers that you can fill up with media of your choice and the design makes water flow through all the chambers. I use only biological filtration using polyester fiber matting with sponge pre-filters. The The filters need to be unclogged every 2-3 weeks but the water in the aquarium tests perfect – ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 20. The fibre makes water crystal clear within 2 hours even if I work on the substrate. The one con I found was that the filter hanging mechanism can only deal with 5mm thick glass so I had to make a DIY solution to hang it. Otherwise the shape is good and it stays flat with the glass preventing fishes from getting caught behind it.
